ACCA members have until 31st December to complete their CPD requirements. The majority of CPD must be verifiable CPD. Many members believe that the only way to obtain verifiable CPD is via a traditional face-to-face training course. However, there are more creative ways to undertake verifiable CPD, including online CPD.

The following questions summarise ACCA’s requirements for members to undertake continuing professional development.

Ongoing learning and development essential for all ACCA members and is also the best route to career development and progression.

All ACCA members are required to undertake relevant CPD to ensure that they maintain and develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s dynamic and demanding business environment.

What is verifiable CPD?

No matter what your learning activity is, if you can answer ‘yes’ to the three questions below, you can record your learning activity as verifiable CPD:

1. Was the learning activity relevant to your career?

2. Can you explain how you will apply the learning in the workplace?

3. Can you provide evidence that you undertook the learning activity?

What are the options for undertaking CPD?

One route for ACCA members who plan and organise their own CPD is to follow the unit route. ACCA members are required to complete 40 relevant units of CPD each year, where one unit is equal to one hour of development. Twenty-one of these units must be verifiable.

What evidence of CPD is required?

All members are required to keep evidence of their participation in the appropriate CPD route for three years as it may be required as part of ACCA’s CPD review process.
